A well-funded defense production company building long-range hypersonic systems, one of the few in its field to move from concepts to production, with active government contracts.

The Role

Our client is hiring Tooling Engineers (3-5+ years) to design and develop large-scale, safety-critical tooling for solid rocket motor production. You will work out how to safely move, handle and process thousands of pounds of energetic materials, designing fixtures, assemblies and environmental systems that keep precursor chemicals at the right temperature and in motion. Your work will directly enable delivery of the first 50 units to the US Navy.

What You Will Do

• Design large-scale jigs, fixtures, molds and handling assemblies for safely moving and processing 600+ gallon, 2,000+ lb batches of oxidizer precursor chemicals.
• Engineer solutions for temperature control, material movement between buildings and safe breakdown of energetic materials for motor casting.
• Architect tooling with manufacturing, design and production teams to hit cost, quality and delivery targets.
• Lead tooling projects from concept to the production floor, including FEA validation, tolerance stack-ups and DFM.
• Mentor junior tooling engineers and technicians and ensure compliance with aerospace and defense standards.

What You Bring

• 3-5+ years of tooling or mechanical design engineering
• Large-scale fixture and handling-equipment design
• CAD (SolidWorks, NX or CATIA), FEA, GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
• Comfort working safely with hazardous or energetic materials
• US citizenship or green card (defense work)
• Ability to work on-site in Torrance 5 days a week
